ERCIM Workshop on Social Media Analysis "Networked Data Analysis for Social Media", 12 noon to 5pm, 18th June, UCD, Dublin

KeyNote Speaker: Barry Smyth on "Community-Based Search with Heystaks" (http://www.heystaks.com) This day long workshop will bring together European researchers on networked data analysis to assess the level of interest in collaborating in future research in this general area. This workshop will be of interest to researchers on: - algorithmic aspects of large-scale networked data analysis - information retrieval over social media - data mining and semantic web approaches for social media enrichment

The workshop will provide an opportunity for researchers to outline their research activities and objectives in these areas. The objective will be to identify the potential for future collaboration. The outcome of the workshop could be the establishment of an ERCIM working group to facilitate future collaboration - details on the scope and objectives of ERCIM working groups are available at http://www.ercim.org/activity/workgroup.

The workshop will begin with a keynote talk by Barry Smyth on "Community-Based Search with Heystaks" (heystaks.com). The workshop will proceed with short presentations where participants summarise their research activities and future plans in this research area. There will be a round-table discussion where participants can determine the scope and nature of future collaboration.

Venue

The workshop will be held in room B1.09 in the UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics which is the building numbered 22 on the UCD campus map. 

For those who have indicated that they are staying on for the dinner, a table has been booked in the Maloti restaurant in the centre of Dublin (map).

Accommodation

The most convenient hotel for UCD is the Montrose Hotel www.montrosehotel.ie which is within walking distance of the workshop venue. There is also a regular bus service to the UCD campus from the city centre where there is a number of accommodation options available www.goireland.ie.
